What is the best linux distribution for what I am looking for?

So here are my computer specs:

Pentium D Dual-Core 2.8ghz

1GB of Ram

80 GB and a second 160 GB hard drive

Intel Integrated Graphics 945 Express Family.

I am looking for a good installation, but also I want it to look good(aesthetically pleasing). What is the fastest possible I can get, that still has a really good user interface, and is good looking? What is the best linux distribution for what I am looking for?
Xubuntu Linux - http://xubuntu.org/
Just try one of the hundreds of Live CDs or Live DVDs out there.

Here is a copy of Ubuntu that is pre-loaded and packed with software with many options and supports laptop wireless devices even.

I have v2.8 running on an 8 year old Toshiba Laptop right now. What is the best linux distribution for what I am looking for?
I thoroughly recommend Linux Mint 11. Its easy to install and easy to use plus it comes with much of the software you are likely to need preinstalled

Linux Mint 11 Download

Also worth considering is Linux Mint Debian Edition

You download the ISO. image of Linux Mint 11 or Linux Mint Debian Edition then you need to create a Bootable LiveDVD

Linux Mint 11 and Linux Mint Debian Edition can also be run straight from the LiveDVD from Boot without touching your Hard Drive

Check out the distros here at distro watch!

Linux Mint : http://www.google.com/m/url?client=ms-an鈥?/a>

Or

Sabyon Linux : http://www.google.com/m/url?client=ms-an鈥?/a>
With those specs all distros should run fine.

The great thing about linux is you can customize the hell out of it.

There are classifications let me explain:

Formats:

KDE- closest to windows with a twist.(I do not recommend)

XFCE- Great for old or under powered computers.

GNOME- My favorite and best most modern looking.

UNITY- Ubuntu uses this I hate it.

Distros:

Ubuntu- I believe the best and most stable.

LM12- it is ubuntu with extra software you won't need.

Fedora- sucks used it for 10 minutes got 2 errors

OpenSUSE- uses gnome 3 I will explain later why you should not choose this one.

Debian- everything is built off of this but I believe Ubuntu improved upon this.

Zorin OS- I believe is the best clean looking os.

Step 1 pick Distro:

Ubuntu is great.

If you are looking for something flashy and clean Zorin OS is great(currently using with my own customizations) This is based off Ubuntu so it is just as stable.

Step 2 pick format:

Gnome 3 is the most modern and best looking OpenSUSE, Fedora 15 and now LM12 use this.

But again Zorin OS combo between gnome and windows 7 looks great.(Explain later)

Combining Ubuntu with Gnome 3 and losing Unity is a great combo. Thats why using OpenSUSE or Fedora is stupid because Ubuntu is better but can look as good as those distros.

Zorin OS is my 2nd favorite it is based off Windows 7 look but don't write off because of that it looks great and works fast.

Xubuntu(XFCE format for Ubuntu) is my 3rd favorite it is so fast and light and also looks great.

LM12 is my 4th it is great OS but Ubuntu with gnome 3 is better.
