What is the best linux operating system to use?

I am new to linux and have never used it before and I just want to see what its like. What is the best linux operating system to use?
You Can use Ubuntu its easy to Use and it seldom Crashes I have also Used Fedora and to compare it with fedora Ubuntu is a better option
I thoroughly recommend Linux Mint 9 Main Edition which is built upon Ubuntu 10.04 Its easy to install and easy to use plus it comes with much of the software you are likely to need preinstalled

Installing Linux as a dual-boot with Windows without partitioning

http://psychocats.net/ubuntu/wubi

Linux Mint has a similar installer called mint4win (mint4win works the same as Wubi so the instructions outlined above are almost identical)

You keep Windows as it is, mint4win only adds an extra option to boot into Linux Mint. mint4win does not require you to modify the partitions of your PC, or to use a different bootloader, and does not install special drivers. It works just like any other application.

mint4win keeps most of the files in one folder, and if you do not like it, you can simply uninstall it as any other application.

Boot in to windows insert the Linux Mint LiveCD and you will offered the option of installing inside windows which is where the mint4win installer comes in, you will be asked how many gigabytes you wish to allocate to Linux Mint (I recommend 8gb) then you set a password for your installation then click install and thats it.

Once Linux Mint is fully installed upon starting your PC you will be given a choice of which operating system you want to use Windows or Linux Mint

You download the ISO. image of Linux Mint 9 or Linux Mint 10 then you need to create a Bootable LiveCD for installation

Linux Mint 9 and Linux Mint 10 and can also be run direct from the LiveCD from Boot without touching your Hard Drive

If now or in the future you plan to commit to carry out a full installation you can follow one of the tutorials below

LUg.What is the best linux operating system to use?
there are a few that are worth looking at . Ubuntu,Linux Mint ,PinguyOS. and many others just about all of the major distros have a live cd image that you can download and burn to a disc and boot into a desktop . or use a program called Unetbootin to install it to a usb flash drive(a gig or more in size) or external hard drive (be sure to backup what you may have on it b4 using it for this) and boot from those type of things. i do it a lot as i like to see what works/not works with different hardware . i currently run Ubuntu and xp as dual boot . if you need more help just e-mail me.
The best way to start is to burn a linux live cd. You can run linux entirely from the cd without making any changes to your hard drive. You will see how it looks and feels (it will run a little slowly because it is running only from the cd and not the hard drive.).What is the best linux operating system to use?
the best linux are paid linux cause they come with all the drivers and codecs included while free linux lack many many and many drivers codecs etc. why? Because of insane US laws made to protect capitalism and fight any inclusion of free opensource or proprietary drivers in linux distros or products. Many ppl are pushing for the adoption of Ubuntu but is is UNKNOWN among large corporations it is good if you have a desktop with limited requirements. Linux Mint is a beefed up version of ubuntu with some drivers but it has many glitches. forget about installing Ubuntu on a laptop unless you have an INTEL wifi card the only ones fully supported by open source drivers.
Sabayon is a really nice live distro. SUSE hasn't been mentioned yet.

If your interest in refining your search you can go here.

There really is not a "best", just a "best for you", so go crazy, you can try three or four as a liveCd until you find something you like. If you don't find anything, you can try 3 or 4 more.
The latest version of Ubuntu. I use a program called "Wubi" to dual boot Windows 7 and Ubuntu.

I think the most famous one is Ubuntu. I recommend it. It has a really high speed.
I like Ubuntu. Mostly they are all similar. Here is a site to download it:
