I have a Macbook Pro and was wondering if i could try linux and still keep Mac OS X 10.4. What should I do and is it possible to have multiple OS's on a single hard drive? What version of linux should i get if i'm a first time user?
Download Ubuntu Linux. As with all Linux distros, it is free, but this one is particularly user friendly and has a LiveCD which you can use to try it without actually installing it (run the OS off the CD).What version of linux should i get if i'm a first time user?
Mandrake Linux is the best. I have Mandrake Linux 10.1 installed on my PC along with Vista ultimate, and Server 2008 beta 3. But Mandrake Linux is the best of them all, in my opinion! What version of linux should i get if i'm a first time user?

I have never ran linux on a macbook since I have not owned one. I currently have a macpro desktop, but have three harddrives. I run windows, linux and osx for various purposes. Mostly I use linux because I am a dork and have been messing around with it since before I can remember.
Check out beryl when you have everything running..
